Ubud is a town situated in the uplands of Bali, Indonesia. It is well-known as a center for traditional crafts and dance. The surrounding Ubud District’s rainforest are clustered with Hindu temples and shrines. Some of its major tourist attractions are:
Goa Gajah Elephant Cave
This is situated in the region famous for its collection of historical sites. The temple complex is situated very near central Ubud. It is an hour’s drive from the provincial capital of Denpasar and the main tourist attraction. After coming down a number of stairs, you will find a relic-filled courtyard. You would also find the main 11th century ‘cave’. You can enter this to view beautiful rock-wall carvings. There is also a Hindu temple. You would also find a bathing pool with fountains which were excavated in 1954.
Blanco Renaissance Museum
This is the house and studio of the late Philippine-born maestro, Don Antonio Blanco. This is located on a hilltop overlooking the lush valley of Campuhan. There are collections of paintings, collages and illustrated poetry, together with lithographic artworks. The collections and the lush garden surroundings make it a great stopover on your trip to Ubud.
Setia Darma Masks & Puppets House
This is a museum to preserve some of Indonesia’s colorful heritage items. It serves as ideal for families and culture lovers. There is broad collection of items from around the world. There are more than 1,000 masks. There are also over 4,000 puppets from all over the world. There is compound comprising five traditional wooden Balinese pavilions and Javanese ‘joglo’ and ‘limasan’ houses .These pavilions have vast collections in different categories.
Bali Bird Park & Reptile Park
This is fit for the whole family. It has got a fine tropical garden which offers an interesting walk amidst a thousand exotic birds from the Indonesian and around the world.
Campuhan Ridge Walk
If you want to enjoy an easy nature trek in Ubud, try this. You can enjoy cool fresh air and probably the most gorgeous hillside view. The ridge starts from the scenic Gunung Lebah Temple.
Bali Zoo
The zoo is locally called ‘ Kebun Binatang Bali’. The zoo is set over a huge area with lush green tropical gardens. There are various tropical plants and a good collection of fauna ranging from mammals, birds and reptiles. You will have a wonderful time to walk through. You can experience a range of experiences, such as elephant and pony rides, photo sessions with animals, as well as outbound adventures.
